Divya Prabhandham ("the App") is a reader and audio player for the Naalayira Divyaprabandham. This policy explains how the App handles information across iOS, iPadOS, and Android platforms. In short, the App does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. It has no advertising, no third-party tracking, and all core reading features work fully offline.
Summary
- We (the publisher) do not collect or store any personal data from you on our own servers.
- Core app content (text, translations, and scripts) is bundled inside the App and works without an internet connection.
- Your reading data and preferences are stored locally on your device.
- Optional cloud sync relies strictly on platform-native accounts (iCloud on iOS/iPadOS or Google Drive/Play Services on Android), managed by Apple and Google respectively. We have no access to it.
- Audio playback uses third-party music providers (Apple Music on iOS; Amazon Music or YouTube Music on Android).
- Notifications, if enabled, are scheduled locally on your device.
Information the App Handles Locally
The App stores the following on your device to remember your place and preferences:
- Reading data — your current reading position, bookmarks, and recently viewed sections.
- Preferences — your chosen script/language, reading font, accent color, appearance (light/dark/contrast), and font size.
- Reminder settings — whether daily reminders are enabled and your selected time slots.
This information stays on your device unless you choose to sync it via platform cloud services (see below). We never receive or store it.
Cloud Sync (Optional)
- iOS / iPadOS (iCloud Sync): If enabled, your bookmarks, reading position, and preferences synchronize across your Apple devices using Apple's iCloud Key-Value storage, tied to your personal Apple Account. Managed under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Android (Google Drive / Play Services Sync): If enabled, app preferences and reading history sync using your Google Account, including your Google account email/profile identifier to associate the synced data with your account. Managed under Google's Privacy Policy.
The publisher cannot view, access, or retrieve any synced cloud data on either platform. You can disable sync at any time in the App's Settings or via your device's operating system settings.
Account Authentication (Optional)
The App offers optional single sign-in to support cross-device features:
- Sign in with Apple (iOS / iPadOS): Stores the user identifier and name provided by Apple locally on your device. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In (Android): Stores your basic profile identifier and email, provided by Google, locally on your device for the purpose of enabling bookmark and preference sync. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Authentication details are never transmitted to the publisher or any third-party marketing servers, and are not shared with any third party. You can sign out at any time in the App's Settings.
Music & Audio Providers (Optional)
The App integrates with platform-specific music services to provide accompanying audio pasurams:
- iOS / iPadOS — Apple Music: Requires an active Apple Music subscription to stream full audio tracks. Audio playback is handled natively via MusicKit / Apple Music API. The App requests permission to interact with your Apple Music account. The App does not collect, track, or log your music listening history. Handled under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Android — Amazon Music / YouTube Music: You may choose either provider for accompanying audio playback. An active subscription is not required for standard streaming; however, an Amazon Music Unlimited or YouTube Music / YouTube Premium subscription may be required by Amazon or Google, respectively, for background audio playback when the app is minimized or the screen is turned off. Audio playback is streamed via the Amazon Music or YouTube Music / Google API services. The App does not collect, track, or store your Amazon Music or YouTube playback history or personal Amazon or YouTube credentials. Handled under Amazon's or Google's Privacy Policy, respectively.
Notifications (Optional)
If enabled, the App schedules local notifications directly on your device. These are generated strictly on-device by iOS/Android system schedulers — no reminder schedules, content, or device tokens are sent to our servers. You can toggle reminders in the App's Settings or via system notification settings.
Information We Do NOT Collect
The App does not collect, use, or share:
- Personal identifiers, contact lists, or precise/coarse location data.
- User analytics, usage profiling, or behavioral tracking data.
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID); the App contains zero advertising or tracking SDKs.
- Search queries, bookmarked pasurams, or reading habits.
The App operates without a custom backend server and makes no network requests to the publisher.
Information Platform Owners May Receive
When you download or purchase apps from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store:
- Apple or Google may process device metadata, download metrics, and diagnostic crash logs under their respective privacy policies.
- If you opt in to share developer diagnostics on your device, the publisher receives only aggregated, anonymized crash reports and basic app usage statistics via App Store Connect and Google Play Console. This data is entirely decoupled from your personal identity.
Platform Privacy Declarations
- Apple App Store: Listed as "Data Not Collected."
- Google Play Data Safety: Declared as "No data collected" and "No data shared with third parties."
Children's Privacy
The App is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. Because the App collects no personal information whatsoever, no special data-handling rules or age-gating procedures for children apply.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because all personal configurations reside on your device or personal cloud storage:
- Local Data: Uninstalling the App instantly deletes all local data from your device.
- Synced Cloud Data: Disable cloud sync in the App's Settings, or delete stored app data via iOS Settings (iCloud) or Android Settings (Google Drive / App Management).
- Account Sign-Out: Tap Sign Out in the App's Settings to remove Apple or Google sign-in tokens from local device storage.
Security
Data stored on your device relies on the hardware-level encryption and security architecture of iOS/Android. Cloud data relies on Apple and Google cloud security infrastructure. Because we operate no developer databases or remote servers, there is no remote database to breach.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect app enhancements or platform regulatory requirements. Updates will be indicated by revising the effective date at the top of this policy and publishing the revised version on the App Store and Google Play Store listings, and at https://strikersree.github.io/apps.srinivaskannan/divya-prabhandham/privacy.html.
